Northwest Democrats is a membership organization of more than 300 families who share a common goal of helping elect qualified Democrats to public office. The purpose of the organization is to stimulate political activism and awareness, encourage voter registration and turnout, and to engage in community service projects throughout San Antonio. Northwest Democrats has been active in San Antonio since 1992.
The Northwest Democrats is composed of political activists who use their diverse background and talents to advance the values and principles of the Democratic Party. During the year, the organization encourages its members to participate in a wide variety of the group’s activities.
The Northwest Democrats facilitates member participation in the political process by:
* Holding monthly meetings
* Publishing a monthly newsletter
* Maintaining a website
* Registering and educating voters
* Planning fund-raising events
* Working on community service projects
* Campaigning for Democratic candidates in general elections
During each general election, the Northwest Democrats work on behalf of the entire Democratic ticket by building a strong grassroots organization that serves more than 200 precincts throughout northwest Bexar county. In the 2020 election, Northwest Democrats volunteers bought 50,000 NWD flyers and mailed 49,000 to homes and the remaining 1,000 were distributed throughout Bexar county.
To fund the organization’s many political activities the Northwest Democrats formed a Political Action Committee (PAC). The PAC is responsible for making appropriate distribution of the organization’s funds to support its various political activities and Democratic groups in Bexar county.
Although Northwest Democrats promotes political action, its members are also encouraged to participate in many of the organization’s community service projects. Members have volunteered countless hours, supplies, money to the San Antonio Food Bank, Stuff the Bus, Don Green Tree Fund, Bexar County Democratic Party, Migrant-Refuge Center and numerous Democratic candidates.
All Democrats are encouraged to join Northwest Democrats to build a stronger and more effective political organization. Only through your help can we work to elect Democrats to public office.
Northwest Democrats focuses its political efforts in over 200 precincts in the fast-growing northwest Bexar County area. By selectively targeting these precincts, Northwest Democrats can concentrate its outreach and resources to Democratic voters who reside in these areas.
Northwest Democrats has accepted the following boundaries as our particular area of responsibility:
